People, Places, and Plants: What We’re Thankful for at Seascapes

This time of year calls on us to take a pause in our busy lives and think about all that we have to be thankful for. The Thanksgiving season gives us the opportunity to take inventory of the little things and what makes life so special. Here at Seascapes, we have a lot to be thankful for. We can all agree that working outside with plants every day is one of life’s simple pleasures, and to call this place our “office” is a unique and wonderful thing. So, we’re taking the opportunity to share our favorite things about Seascapes, the parts of it we’re most thankful for, and what makes it such a special place to work.

“What people, places, and plants make you thankful to be at Seascapes?”

 Jenny

“Everyone at Seascapes makes me thankful to work here! The people are what make this such an inviting place to work. Everyone is so welcoming. My favorite place to be is the Blue Jade trellis. It is just stunning when the Blue Jade Vine is in bloom, cascading down from the bamboo. I’m thankful for amazing ginger plants like the Polynesian Princess! Its blooms are so huge and breathtaking, it’s amazing to see in the Mother Hedge!”

Katherine

“I’m thankful to work with someone like Karen, who is so knowledgeable about plants and is a great resource to all of us! My favorite place to explore is the Propagation Area of the Greenhouse. It’s like a maze with surprises around every corner! The plant I am most thankful for is the Sansevieria, because they come in so many different varieties and act as an air purifier! They’re amazing plants; very resilient and they give me hope!”

Robin

“I’m thankful for all my coworkers, who are so kind and helpful. We have a great workplace camaraderie, and I’m very grateful. I can’t pick a favorite place in the nursery: I love all of it! Same goes for plants. I love searching through the greenwaste and rescuing unloved plants so I can bring them home and baby them back to life!”

Karen

“I’m thankful for everyone here! It takes a team to make it work, and I’m happy to be a part of this team. I’m thankful for Margie’s kingdom, the Succulent Tent. I love seeing all the unique plants. The oddballs are my favorite! Finding rare or unusual plants to propagate makes me thankful, especially when you get to see them grow and bloom into something beautiful!”

“I’m thankful for all of my coworkers because I get to learn so much from everyone here! Such a welcoming and friendly work environment. My favorite place in the nursery is the Orchid House, where we propagate rare and unique orchids. I love seeing the different varieties and look forward to seeing each one bloom!”

Dani

“I’m so grateful for Robin. She’s always checking in on everyone and ready to help. It’s nice to know she genuinely cares about how you feel. I’m most thankful for the Veggie Section, because that’s where I get to grow delicious and organic food for everyone! My favorite plant at Seascapes is the Black Bat Flower. So fascinating and it provides unusual beauty wherever it is.”

Rob

“I’m thankful to have a boss like Serina, who is very fair and approachable. She cares about the people who work for her and thinks of everyone’s needs. I admire how much she has grown this amazing company over the years and transformed it into what it is today. My favorite place to be is under the Blue Jade Vine when it’s in bloom! It’s so magical to see all of the flowers and the spectacular color just take over the trellis! I’m thankful for orchids because of the variety of colors and growth habits. So cool to discover a new orchid at the nursery!”

Jess

“I’m thankful for our amazing manager, Jody. She oversees so much of the nursery and staff and has the patience of a saint! My favorite place to be in the nursery is the heliconia and ginger area in the back of the property. So cool to see all of the different heliconia flowers in bloom with their unique colors and shapes. The plant I’m most thankful for is Rosemary. It is so versatile in the landscape. It can be a lovely hedge plant that provides its amazing aroma and can be harvested and used in cooking.”

Clearly we have a lot of gratitude & appreciation here at Seascapes. There’s so much to be thankful for at a place surrounded with so much beauty and so many lovely people.  We love sharing this amazing place with all of you, who travel from near & far to explore all that the nursery has to offer!
